2006 Garden State Film Festival
Asbury Park, NJ
It has definitely become a tradition for us at Mixed Nuts to document our trips to film festivals, and this year's Garden State Film Festival was no exception. This year, the lineup was filled with films that were so wonderful and diverse that the whole experience was worth it just to see these other great films. Films that starred Robert Wagner (or Number 2 from the Austin Powers movies), Talia Shire (best known as Adrienne in the Rocky flicks), and Kurtwood Smith ("Red" from That 70s Show) all were great! We also got to make great contacts with other filmmakers, including these guys from Mind-Bending Productions, who I found out were previous fans of Mixed Nuts films. They were great to talk to and hang out with at the festival. They will soon be starting production on their first feature film, and we wish them the best of luck! The talk of the festival was that Kurtwood Smith was there. Two films he starred in were featured in the festival. At the awards banquet, we had the opportunity to meet him, along with Michael Uslan, executive producer on films such as Batman Begins and National Treasure. Carmen also made good friends with Vickie Abbot Wheeler, daughter of Bud Abbot (Abbot and Costello), who was accepting a lifetime achievement award for her deceased father. Despite some technical problems during the screening of Township, the festival was great! If Occurrence and South Jersey Phenoms both took home awards! Check out the pictures below to see how much fun we had. |
