Cannes do. What are they going to make of "Philly in Shorts" in the south of France? Well, we'll soon find out. A program of nine short films made by Philadelphia-area directors will unspool next month at the Cannes International Film Festival, and anyone interested in getting a preview can head for the black-box theater at the Prince Music Theater on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The lineup: "Cutout" by Marc Catone; "To Kill a Bore" by Sunah Kim Schultz; "Searching for... Sister Gertrude Morgan" by Benjamin Barnett; "Shopping in the Afterlife" by Joshua Cohen and Robert Yula; "Hard Coal: The Last of the Bootleg Miners" by Marc Brodzik; "A Fistful of Confidence" by Kevin "Jake" Hackenberg; "If Occurrence" by Michael Licisyn; "Nothing but Net" by Michael Wingate Jones; and "This Time of Afternoon" by Kristie Lutz.

A suggested donation of $10 will help promote the program and its filmmakers at Cannes. The Prince is at 1412 Chestnut St. Info: www.film.org.
